Church Treasurer
Thank you Wendy Freeman!
Our thanks to Wendy Freeman for eight years as our volunteer treasurer. Wendy has maintained an effective and efficient bookkeeping system. She was always very professional and organized. Wendy took the church carefully through a period with an interim minister after Elaine left, and the paperwork of Darrell's sick leave and return to work. She assisted with the application for the government grant for seven summer students. She helped prepare and present the budget each year. Wendy set up the computer system for the church tellers. Before that all offerings were recorded manually. The system provides the envelope steward and treasurer a proper record of each individual's offering and creates a printed deposit slip each week.
We appreciate Wendy's good nature and willingness to share her time and talent. Wendy was even able to continue as treasurer through her own significant health situation. Wendy will be available to answer questions from our new treasurer, Diane Sowers.
Meet the new treasurer!
Diane Sowers is originally from Caledonia. She moved to Simcoe about eight years ago to help her Mom who is now 84. Diane has 4 children and 7 grandchildren. Diane lived in Selkirk as a single mom. In that community at the time were Darrell and Laura Maguire! Diane's daughter babysat Rachel and Josh Maguire! When Diane was church hunting in Simcoe she felt God's calling to First Baptist and the new minister…Darrell!
Diane has been doing accounting as a business for over 30 years. She does corporate and personal accounting and bookkeeping. She looks forward to her new role at First Baptist.
