Pastor Search
June Update
The committee is following the CBOQ manual for calling a pastor to our church. It is an 18 step process and we are on steps 6 and 7. The job description has been posted on the CBOQ website and will be open until June 10th. Once the posting has closed, the summer months will involve our committee reviewing the candidates, and conducting interviews. When we have found a candidate who we feel is the right minister for our church, the candidate will be asked to come and preach for one Sunday. According to our constitution, we are to present only one candidate to the congregation.
On the Sunday one week after the candidate comes as our visiting speaker, we will have a congregational meeting where all voting members will cast one vote to either say yes or no to the proposed candidate. This is a ballot box vote. Although everyone is invited to share their thoughts and hopes for the next minister, only voting members will be casting ballots. If the vote passes, that minister will be offered the position.
There are many factors involved in the timing of this process including the candidate's current employment situation. So far there are many similarities to the timeline of the pastoral search when Darrell was called, and he was able to join us to start the Advent season. Our best guess is that the earliest would be the beginning of October, and the latest depends on all the other factors.
We continue to move forward with prayer and thoughtfulness. We believe God has someone already picked out to lead us over the next few years. We appreciate your prayers to help us connect with and to recognize that person.
