Meet Our Summer Student

Hello! My name is Alyssa Copeland, but you can call me Ally. I am 15 years old and a Grade 9 student at SCS. I will be the Camp Coordinator for VBS “True North” 2025.
I have been attending First Baptist Church VBS day camp for the past 13 years. I first started attending as a camper when Carolyn Bridge was my daycare provider. When I was in elementary school, I continued to return each year as a camper. For the past three years, I've had the privilege to be a volunteer leader at VBS. My favourite hobbies to enjoy in my spare time include fishing, quadding, hanging out with my friends, and playing sports, specifically competitive volleyball.
I am very excited and eager to help coordinate the camp this year, especially because of the outdoorsy theme. Decorating the church with all the props and sets is something I'm looking forward to. I love being creative and encouraging a friendly environment. In addition, I am looking forward to connecting with the children, the volunteers, and the leaders that will be working with me. Being a part of the community and having the ability to make a positive impression on the youth is what really pushes me to be a great leader. The most important part to me is for all the children to have smiles on their faces while having fun learning about God, and their faith.
Note: The summer student is fully funded by a Canada Youth Summer Job grant for 6 weeks of 35 hours per week.
