As a Christian church, we exist to honour God by helping local people worship God, grow spiritually, serve others, and reach their communities and the world with the message and love of Jesus Christ.

Bible Study — “Talk Back”

Date:February 28, 2018
Time:7:00pm
Ages:Adults (18 and up)
What:Explore more deeply last Sunday's sermon and Bible passages with Rev. Maguire.

Discussion Starters

  1. Can you remember a time when you were truly embarassed? Are you brave enough to share your story?
  2. What is an assumption? Why are assumptions problematic? What assumptions are made about you personally?
  3. What assumptions are made about Jesus? How do we respond to them?
  4. Who do people say Jesus was? In Peter's mind in this passage, what did being a Messiah mean?
  5. How did the disciples react to Jesus when He predicted His suffering and death?
  6. Why did Jesus have to suffer and die?
  7. What does walking the way of the cross mean? Why are we so averse to embracing the way of the cross?
  8. Can you be a part-time disciple? Can you just pick those parts of discipleship you like and avoid the others?
  9. Why are we so slow to understand that the real treasures in this universe are not found in our bank accounts or come from our own effort?
  10. What does it mean to die to self? How can we get more effective at picking up our crosses?
