As a Christian church, we exist to honour God by helping local people worship God, grow spiritually, serve others, and reach their communities and the world with the message and love of Jesus Christ.

Annual Meeting: An Online Success

Screenshot of Zoom meeting participants

After the difficulty getting a quorum for the November Budget and Nominations meeting, the decision was made to do the Annual Meeting as a virtual meeting on Zoom. After an opportunity to practice Zoom at the church online social, enough people participated on March 14th to have comfortable quorum. Rick and Carolyn Bridge even joined from their vehicle as they drove to see family!

A motion was passed to allow the meeting to proceed on Zoom. Rev. Maguire led us in devotion and prayer.

The following items were approved: Agenda for the Annual General Meeting, minutes from the 2020 AGM, 2021 slate of officers, 2021 operating budget, minutes from the 2020 Budget and Nominations meeting, printed reports for AGM, church financial reports for 2020, and the Trustee fund report for 2020.

A silent reflection was held for those that have passed on in 2020: Betty Brunton, Anne Burnett, Martin Mayer, Richard Rainey, and Bill Martin.

Highlights of the year ahead were presented by Jim Carroll (for Deacons), Patrick Forde (for Managers), and Janet Dickson (for Christian Education).

There will be discussion at the 2022 AGM to change the AGM date from “February” to “four weeks after the receipt of reports”. There will also be discussion on a motion to allow all church meetings in the future to be held electronically if necessary. Thanks to all that participated!
