As a Christian church, we exist to honour God by helping local people worship God, grow spiritually, serve others, and reach their communities and the world with the message and love of Jesus Christ.

Netting the Waters

This movie was greatly enjoyed by everyone! We met at the Strand and enjoyed their hospitality. The movie was filled with incredible knowledge, history, and local pride. We have a new respect for our local fishermen and those abroad. Who knows…this documentary could inspire some young people to carry on our fishing industry!

“Out of the Cold” Fundraiser Walk

Rick and Carolyn Bridge, along with one of the youth, Eva Dixon, and two of her grandchildren did the 5km walk called the “Coldest Night of the Year” on Saturday, February 22nd. Our team name was the First Baptist Frostbites, and our team captain was Eva . Together we raised $1850. We enjoyed a stop at McDonalds for refreshments from one of our sponsors and returned back to Riversyde 83 for delicious chili. It was a nice walk and a great social time, all while raising money for the Youth Center and the homeless. A big thank you to our main pledge by Carodoc Townsend Mutual (Neil Shay). Eva was one of four people given a gold button for raising over $1000.

February 26th Meeting

We started our night by sharing all that's happened in our lives in the last couple weeks. Placement training, food handlers course, volleyball in Pittsburgh, ice fishing, ski trips, and more! The youth are busy and excited to share their activities with the group.

We opened with a magazine from the church library, called Mysteries of the Bible and discussed how incredible it is that we are created in God's image. We looked at beasts from the Bible with a talk on the book of Job. Our talk sheet was about stress, discussing if stress is always a bad thing or not. What causes us stress? What can help relieve stress? God says to come to Him and rest in His arms.

We did our Chosen Bible study. This chapter is called belonging to God and what that means. We enjoyed rice krispie squares from the Coats family and other snacks.

We read a newspaper article given to us by Wray Knox from the OPP. It is written to inform and warn parents and kids about online activity and to be careful of predators. One of the youth closed in prayer for us and we went our separate ways until next time!
