As a Christian church, we exist to honour God by helping local people worship God, grow spiritually, serve others, and reach their communities and the world with the message and love of Jesus Christ.

Ponderings from Pastor Pamela's Pen

Oh Baby, it's cold outside and it's still snowing, wow!

I am grateful that we have all been warm and safe, so far this winter. Continue to walk carefully on icy sidewalks. I do admit, although it seems rather treacherous outside when I look out through many different windows I see the beauty of winter. I just need a sunny day and my camera to finally go out for a walk in it all and maybe it could be 10 degrees warmer, lol. I do know many of you love this time of year, lol, I am more of a beach girl!

Apparently, we have just lived through what meteorologist call the, “10 darkest weeks of the year, in North America”. When I read that, I was moved to give God thanks for the light He has brought us through the birth of His Son, our Lord and King Jesus. No matter how dark it is, we have the light of Jesus glimmering, bursting and lighting our spiritual, emotional, and physical paths. The prophecy from Isaiah did indeed come true; “For unto us a child has been born, unto us a son is given…” (Isaiah 9:6). Without the light of Christ people live in terrible darkness. But we know, again from Isaiah 9 that, “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who lived in a land of deep darkness on them light has shined.” Because we are people of the light, then our role is to continue sharing that light with all we meet and I see us doing that very well at FBCS.

The desire to share Jesus with others can be seen in our many plans too. Upcoming we have the “Who is Coming to Dinner” night, where we will fellowship and eat together in different homes. I can't wait to see who my guests are. I will be co-hosting with Diane Sowers and we have planned a great meal.

February brings a packed line-up as well, with the kickoff of our Wednesday morning Bible Study, starting on the 25th at 10:00am. We will also be starting a mission moment in our Sunday service, highlighting missions from a global and local perspective. A Valentines Tea for our seniors will be served at my home on Saturday, February 14th at 3:00pm. Don't forget to register with the office, so I can prepare enough goodies.

There are other exciting events coming for our youth, Family Day, and an all new Men's Fellowship, so keep watch and keep praying. Stay warm and cozy dear ones, winter still has awhile to go, but we will go together led by the light of Christ.

Pastor's schedule: Pastor Pamela plans to be in the office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. She is out on visits or at meetings on Thursdays and Fridays.
