Youth Weekend Retreat “Ascent”
Some of our youth travelled to Circle Square Ranch in Brantford for the CBOQ youth event “Ascent” in late April with leaders Rick and Carolyn Bridge.
The girls had their own cabin, and the boys shared with another group.
There was a lot of praise and worship, small devotion and Bible studies. They had “Free to Choose” (FTC) time which included board games, cards, outside activities, chill time in hammocks, karaoke, and more. There was soccer, volleyball, just dance, meet the band, and hiking opportunities. Some of our group went to the self-guided prayer room and a Q&A with Charles Karugu, the guest speaker. Great worship and great songs!
All the kids were divided into teams. Our kids went in pairs to join other churches to be part of the Lumberjacks, the Grizzly Bears, the Mounties, and the Rockies. Each group had to create their own cheer. There were wide games like musical chairs, hula hoops, and building a tower out of spaghetti & marshmallows, and piling boxes that could stand independently for at least for 30 seconds!
Cabin time was 11:00pm lights out at 11:30pm. We usually ended up talking laughing and praying till about 12:30.
Everyone returned home safely on Sunday. Thank you Rick and Carolyn for your leadership, and to Randy Squires for driving.
A full presentation and slide show will be shared with the congregation on Sunday, June 14th.
