Thank You from Jay Hoover
On Sunday, September 20th I was honoured for many years of volunteer service as a member of the Board of Managers and serving as Chair of the Property Committee. Serving for me was and is a very special privilege. A calling to serve.
As I look back, I know many have served First Baptist Church over the years, and many more continue to serve the church in so many ways. I recall those who were my mentors, Raymond Whitehead, Doug Porter, Don Fleming, Bob Dargie, as well as those I served with during my time on the Board of Managers and Property Committee, too many to name. The church is left in good hands.
As I look back, First Baptist is very fortunate and blessed to the families and individuals who left a legacy to the church. I think of the costs involved in the past for new roofs, updated heating systems, flooring, washroom updates, new dishwasher, gym sound baffles, organ update, repairs to our stained glass windows, updated sound and projection system. Over the years of my serving all this has cost well over one million dollars.
Sorry, it doesn't stop there. Our on-going maintainenance costs are a yearly expense over and above our day-to-day expenses. Thank you for your financial support for the ongoing work of the church.
What you did for me was so thoughtful, so special and so appreciated.
