Ponderings from Pastor Pamela's Pen
By Rev. Pamela Fitkin
In the 1980s there was a scary movie with a famous line “They're Hereeeeeeeeeee!“ I would like to redeem that by saying, through the grace of God “We're Hereeeeeeeee!” and we are more than delighted. God has sustained us, blessed us and provided for us every step of the way.

Unloading the boxes
We have been having a ball learning about Simcoe. For example Cindy and Kent own their very own movie theatre. How grand is that? Someone in the congregation told me, ”most things are just a few minutes drive from Simcoe” and they are right. Through visits and meetings I have already been to Waterford, Langton, Walsh, Bloomsburg, Port Dover and Delhi (which is not pronounced Delly, I have learned).

As for my first week and a half as your new Pastor, I cannot express enough thanks for all the drop ins, cards, food, phone calls, and gifts that I have received to welcome us. A huge “thank you” from all of us. I also cannot figure out how to thank the people who have come and helped our home become that, a new loving home and I know there are still a few others who have offered help and I have responded with, “yes!”

Finishing the paint
The work done on the pastor's office: cleaning, painting, construction, and decorating was such a blessed event and I am grateful. The ribbon ceremony overflowed my heart and was a delightful surprise. As I said, last Sunday, “May the Pastor's office be a place of study, welcoming, refuge, and joy. This is my prayer.”
I am truly thankful that there have already been three youth services/activities that Torie has been a part of and she has come home each time saying, “I am so glad to be here.” With her permission, I can tell you, she arrived home last Sunday night after youth group proclaiming happily, “They are my new family”. This Pastor mama's heart is overflowing with joy.

Cutting the ribbon
As we begin to move forward there will be funny bumps along the way, like getting a few names wrong, getting lost along a country road (which I did today, but not really my fault, as there was no sign telling me to turn, lol) and of course small changes that may cause us to pause and ask, “What is happening?” Transitions take time and patience, so I pray we all continue to be gracious towards each other, as we have been experiencing in abundance already.
Finally, if I haven't said it enough, I am so grateful and honoured to be your new pastor in this new season of life at First Baptist Simcoe and I love you all. May God be glorified!
